About

I am a PhD candidate in the Industrial Ecology program (IndEcol), Department of Energy and Process Engineering (EPT) at NTNU. My PhD is funded by the Center for Green Shift (Green2050) under the main supervision of Prof.Edgar Hertwich.

My research focuses on resource efficiency in the built environment. I, more specifically, investigate efficiency strategies in material and energy use of buildings, aiming to decrease resource depletion and, consequently, mitigate greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from the building industry.

My background is in Architecture with my first master's degree in Building's Physics at the University of Shahid Beheshti (SBU) in Tehran, Iran, and a second master's degree in Sustainable Architecture (SusArc) at NTNU, completed in 2023.

In my research, I utilize and integrate Building Performance Simulation tools with Computer-Aided Design (CAD) programs to model and attain buildings' lifecycle inventory. I explore both the materials' quantities used in the construction of the building and the energy demand for heating, cooling, air-conditioning, and other uses in the building during its lifetime. Lastly, by incorporating Material Flow Analysis (MFA) and lifecycle analysis (LCA) models, I aim to provide an image of the resources' and emissions' flows in neighborhoods, cities, or countries.
