About Research Publications Outreach

About

I am a PhD candidate at the Department of Interdisciplinary Studies of Culture (KULT), where I study the fairness and bias issues emerging from AI-enabled hiring. My doctoral research is part of the Horizon Europe project BIAS: Mitigating Diversity Biases of AI in the Labor Market. I am also part of the Centre for Gender Research and the DigiKULT research group.

Drawing on interviews and ethnographic observations with HR professionals, AI developers, and job seekers, my research examines how these actors interact with AI-enabled hiring tools and how fairness is constructed through their everyday practices. In particular, I approach fairness through the lenses of valuation studies and feminist technoscience, aiming to develop a relational understanding of AI ethics which situates ethical questions within concrete practices rather than abstract principles.

Beyond my dissertation work, I have organized and coordinated several workshops within the BIAS project and am responsible for designing and curating the science exhibition The Hiring Black Box. I work alongside colleagues from computer science, law, and other disciplines in the BIAS project, and I have contributed to a range of academic publications and practice-oriented outputs. I am also a co-initiator of the Feminist Organization Studies and Feminist AI reading groups at KULT.

Academic background

I hold an interdisciplinary background in media and communication studies, and anthropology. I received my MSc in Digital Anthropology from University College London, where my thesis was a digital ethnography of intimacy as co-constructed among the AI chatbot Replika, its users, and its developers.
