Background and activities

I am a PhD candidate at the Department of Electric Power Engineering under the supervision of Prof. Elisabetta Tedeschi and financed by the VISTA scholarship, to carry out the interdisciplinary research project:

"Energy management and control of offshore platforms integrating renewable energy" (EGO-OFF-STORE). 

My research project is also supported by the Onassis Foundation scholarship ID: F ZP 056-1/2019-2020.

VISTA was established in 1985 as a collaborative partnership between Statoil (now Equinor) and the Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters. VISTA's overall vision is to stimulate basic mathematical and scientific research related to the exploitation and management of Norway's petroleum resources.

Project Description

EGO-OFF-STORE is targeting to achieve a more sustainable offshore Oil and Gas platform operation by exploring the optimal integration of Li-ion batteries in wind-powered platforms under uncertainty. The methods being developed are related to the sizing and control of the storage system from the techno-economic and grid services perspectives, under the presence of intermittent renewable power generation and highly variable platform operational patterns. To that aim, data-driven methods are explored to leverage the lack of perfect future information and model complexity, by combining statistical analysis and probabilistic machine learning.

My research interests include: stochastic optimization, energy management algorithms, optimal energy storage sizing, scenario generation for multiple uncertainties, mixed-integer linear programming (MILP), data-driven stochastic/robust control, risk management, statistical methods - machine learning applied to power systems
