About

Stephen works on the biogeochemical cycle of mercury in the open and coastal ocean, with a particular focus on the Arctic Ocean.

Research

  • NTNU Biogeochemistry Group
  • Marseille Marine Mercury Lab

The Nansen Legacy

"The Nansen Legacy is a novel and holistic Arctic research project providing integrated scientific knowledge on the rapidly changing marine climate and ecosystem."

BEST-Siberian

"BEST-Siberian aims to provide data and knowledge on the environmental and ecological risks due to increasing mobility and transformation of bioessential and toxic trace elements on the Siberian continental shelf under permafrost thawing."

METALLICA

"METALLICA unites an international interdisciplinary team to provide transformational understanding of the glacial drivers, transport routes and fjord ecosystem impacts of toxic heavy metals in a changing Arctic."

BC5

"Building Capacity to Crosslink Coastal Pollution with Climate Change BC5 aims at building knowledge on sustainable management of marine coastal ecosystems and resources, strengthening & improving existing regional coastal research."
