Research Profile
My scholarly work is centered around three main areas:
- World War II history and the aftermath of war and conflict
- Social sciences and the theory and practice of history education
- Contemporary indigenous perspectives, with a focus on Sámi culture and society
Across several publications, I have examined diverse perspectives on World War II and its post-war legacy. This includes investigating how different aspects of the war have been understood, interpreted, and represented through the frameworks of memory theory and history didactics. Thematically, my research combines historical inquiry with didactic approaches to war and conflict, alongside studies of the status and representation of indigenous peoples—particularly the South Sámi—within majority societies, both historically and today.
In parts of the academic year 2024/2025, I was a visiting fellow at the Amsterdam School for Heritage, Memory and Material Culture, University of Amsterdam, where I further developed these research interests.
