About

CV

Valéria Monteiro de Souza received her B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Electrical Engineering with focus on Electrical Power Systems from Federal University of Pará (UFPA), Brazil, in 2017 and 2019 respectively. She is currently a Ph.D. candidate at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), Norway, working within the department of Power System Operation and Analysis (PSOA).

Her Ph.D. research is focused on the development of novel methods for detection and prevention of voltage instability events as a means to provide decision-making support to TSOs in the context of early-warning early-prevention systems. This research is part of the NEWEPS project. Her research interests include power systems modelling and analysis, voltage stability, voltage control and renewable energy sources.

Competencies

  • Power System Modelling and Simulation
  • Renewable Energy Sources
  • Transmission & Distribution Networks
  • Voltage Stability
  • Wide-Area Monitoring

Research

Current research interests:

  • Power system modelling and analysis in Python and PSS®E;
  • Transmission & distribution level studies;
  • Voltage stability monitoring;
  • Grid interconnection of renewable energy sources.
  • PSOA

Nordic Early Warning Early Prevention System (NEWEPS)

NEWEPS is a Nordic research Project for a more efficient digitalized Power System between Statnett and SvK. The project is carried out in collaboration with Sintef Energi, NTNU, KTH and RISE.
