Drilling Lab
The Drilling Lab provides a unique opportunity to conduct experiments on a slightly larger scale. Experimental setups are built and modified here as needed, in close collaboration with the mechanical and electronics workshops located in the same building. The hall is primarily used for experimental research and testing within well technology and geophysics.
Today, the hall features:
- A 100-meter-deep borehole used for "surge & swab" testing
- Drillbotics
- A flow loop for subsea oil and water separation
- A flow loop for cuttings transport in inclinations
- A flow loop for cuttings detection
- A 30-meter well equipped with fiber optics and hydrophones
The hall is located in the Hall Building.
