Political and Cultural History

Political and Cultural History

The research group carries out research within political and cultural history, spanning the Late Middle Ages, the early modern and modern periods. The group covers a variety of projects, which examine these subjects in various ways, including research where political and cultural history overlap.

The research group includes projects that examine petitions and petitioning in the Late Middle Ages and the early modern and modern periods, the development of a modern agrarian-political movement in Denmark in the 1800s, the 1848 revolutions and modern political culture in Scandinavia, conceptions of representation in Scandinavia in the 1800s, the modern conceptual history of democracy, and scientific and political publics in the early modern period.

The research group’s aim is to support and develop research within political and cultural history in the Middle Ages and early modern and modern periods. The research group meets regularly to discuss and offer feedback on texts, discuss new research, plan research activities, and develop research applications. The research group is happy to contribute to developing new research projects, such as PhD applications or collaborations on applications for external funds. For any questions, contact Anne Engelst Nørgaard.
