Studies at Trondheim Academy of Fine Art

Trondheim Academy of Fine Art (KiT) offers study programs in fine art and is a department within the Faculty of Architecture and Design at NTNU.
As an art academy integrated into a major university, KiT benefits from close connections to a wide range of academic environments. This creates distinctive opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration across fields such as engineering, technology, architecture, and the humanities.
KiT’s educational approach prioritizes the artistic and personal development of each student. Teaching is grounded in openness, dialogue, and critical reflection, allowing students to navigate freely within a flexible and exploratory learning environment. With guidance from faculty members and guest lecturers representing diverse artistic practices and backgrounds, students are encouraged to push artistic boundaries, experiment, reflect, and take action.
The academy is deeply engaged in the international contemporary art scene and maintains active relationships with artists, critics, curators, and theorists from around the world.
