C-LUNG
Childrens Lung Study in Dhulikhel, Nepal (C-LUNG)
Respiratory infections like pneumonias and bronchiolitis are among the leading global causes of illness and death in children. Nepal is among the countries reporting a very high burden of these childhood infections. Nepal has successfully achieved a high coverage of childhood vaccinations against bacterial pneumonias. Now, common respiratory viruses are dominating causes of respiratory infections in children. As viral respiratory tract infections early in life contribute to both childhood acute disease and the development of asthma and chronic lung diseases later in life, there is an urgent need to develop new treatments.
Our common goal is to improve the health of children in Nepal who suffer from respiratory infections and to find affordable ways to prevent childhood asthma and chronic lung diseases.
