About the course

Course content

Through studying works and / or writings of carefully chosen late or contemporary architects and practices, the students try to identify DESIGN PHILOSOPHIES, lines of thought ........that has produced this outstanding work.

Learning outcome

Through these studies increase conciousness, understand and knowledge of the DESIGN PROCESS (of buildings) in the broadest sense: furniture, houses, landscapes.

Main goal is that the students might reach a new level of conciousness in working with the (architectural-) design process, through actively be able to identify their architectural intentions concerning form, space, space -character, light, sequence, movement as well as contextual presence. KNOWLEDGE The candidate K-1 has in-depth knowledge of architecture as a field of knowledge – its theory and history, as well as its technical, scientific, social and cultural basis – and can apply this knowledge in their own architectural work. K-2 has considerable aesthetic and practical understanding (tacit knowledge) and can apply this knowledge in their own architectural work. K-3 has highly developed experiential knowledge of the relationship between architectural representations at different levels of abstraction, and built architecture SKILLS The candidate  F-1 is in command of architectural methods, tools and forms of expression, and can apply these in architectural design in a targeted, professional and experimental manner. F-2 is able to navigate within and contribute to research and development in the field of architecture and can apply such knowledge in architectural and urban design as well as in academic texts. GENERAL COMPETENCE The candidate G-1 takes independent responsibility for their own learning and professional development and is able to apply their knowledge and skills in new fields. G-2 is able to reflect critically and ethically on their own architectural work, create new frameworks for understanding, and depart from conventions after critical consideration. G-3 is able to communicate their own and others’ architectural work – to specialists as well as to the general public – at a professional level and in an academic context.
