Course content

The use of digital modeling in architectural practice has opened new possibilities in cooperation, complexity and automation in building projects. The embedding of metadata into models (BIM), the possibility of generating CNC instructions for machines and the understanding of using these processes to assess the fabrication and assembly of projects are central to this course.

Learning outcome

- Knowledge -
Students shall acquire a basic understanding for the potential of industrial and off-site fabrication of buildings and the use of digital models in fabrication.

- Skills -
Students shall train in producing high quality digital models that fill the requirements for a specific fabrication workflow and to be able to make a physical copy of their work using automated fabrication.

- Competence -
Students should be able to work on specific aspects of digital modelling in combination with fabrication.

Learning methods and activities

Max number of students: 12 stud. The curriculum will be presented and discussed in seminars and lectures as well as individual work and tutoring along the course. Lessons will be given in English. The course will provide support for students who wish to explore automated prefabrication.
