Course content

Writing a bachelor thesis within business analytics.

Learning outcome

Knowledge:

  • The students gain insight into the academic contexts associated with self-chosen topics or problems.
  • The students gain knowledge about the possibilities and limitations of different research methodologies.

Skills:

  • The students can develop a problem in consultation with the supervisor.
  • The students can deliver a written work that highlights the problem along perspectives that are relevant in the field of business analytics.
  • Over a longer time period, the students collaborate in an independent group where they carry out scientific analyses and become able to benefit from the guidance offered.

General competence:

  • Students know the value of structured argumentation and disposition of a problem.
  • The students understand what academic honesty means in thesis writing and survey methodologies.

Learning methods and activities

Independent work, group work and supervision. Each group can get up to 4 hours of guidance.

Further on evaluation

Submission of the thesis: End of April.

Students who do not submit by the deadline can submit in April the following year. If special causes occur (for example illness), students can apply for a postponement until 31 August.

The bachelor thesis must be written in groups. Group size and detailed guidelines are given on BlackBoard. It may be possible to apply to write the assignment individually. An application for this must be sent to the department. If you apply for and get approved to write the assignment individually, you will still be expected to produce an equally comprehensive assignment like a group.

Specific conditions

Admission to a programme of study is required:
Business Administration (BØA)

Required previous knowledge

The students must have participated in compulsory courses in the 5th semester as well as MET3001 (or equivalent).
