Course content
1. The surface of the sea: geometry, topography, spatial and temporal variations
2. The Earth's gravity field and the Geoid
3. Determination of the geoid based on gravity measurements
4. Determination of the geometry of the sea surface by satellite altimetry
5. Determination of the topography of the sea surface from oceanographic measurements
6. Ocean circulation models for climate studies
Learning outcome
This is a special course defined only for the PhD students in the Norwegian OCTAS project. One of the PhD students is from NTNU. It is planned that a group of national and international teachers to take part in education. The course is mainly supported and funded by the OCTAS project. The priliminary course content is given above. The course will be lectured in English.

It is planned that the course be presented with different participants (teacher and students) as a workshop.
