Course content

The course provides basic knowledge to research methodology and analysis of quantitative data in the field of movement science.

The course deals with central study designs and basic statistical concepts and analyzes. Through lectures and exercises, students will acquire knowledge of basic statistical analyzes and how they are performed. This includes t-tests and their non-parametric alternative, kji-square tests, correlation analyzes and simple linear regression. Statistical analyzes will be done using the SPSS software.

Learning outcome

The student
• Has knowledge of key study designs and what characterizes them
• Has knowledge of summarizing goals and graphical data
• Has knowledge of basic statistical concepts, statistical analysis, and how the results of such analyzes can be interpreted
• has the ability to perform simple statistical analyzes of research data in SPSS, including t-tests, correlation analyzes and simple linear regression
• Has the ability to understand basic methods and simple statistical analyzes in the discipline- and research literature

Learning methods and activities

Up to 48 hours of lectures/exercises. Exchange students interested in the course must consult the Department for possible admission.

  • 70% participation in exercises

Required previous knowledge

The course is reserved for students admitted to the bachelor's programme in Human Movement Science and bachelor's programme in Social Sciences and Sports Sciences.
