About the course

Course content

In this course the students will explore issues related to artistic work, research, processes in projects. Economic conditions and sustainable possibilities are addressed with regard to the planning and realisation of artistic activities. Reading and writing skills are further developed.

In the Autumn semester, students are required to participate in two elective courses that connect the relevance of materiality and subject matter with reflection and contemporary art practices.

Learning outcome

When finishing the course the student will be able to:

  • develop writing skills through reading, note taking, analysis and experimenting with different textual formats.
  • develop an artistic practice in conversation with supervisors and peers.
  • argue for and articulate choices in terms of methods, materials, form giving and context.

Learning methods and activities

Participation in technical and thematic workshops and collaborative projects.

Feedback sessions with fellow students and supervisors support the development of an art project that will be realised and publicly shown in the second semester of the second year.

Optional exchange to another institution through the KUNO or Erasmus networks.

Specific conditions

Approved compulsory assignments are valid in the current semester.

This course is offered to incoming exchange students and could be taught in English.

Further on evaluation

  • progress Review: Assessment of overall artistic development according to learning outcomes.
  • documentation: Thorough audio/visual, essayistic, expositional or other forms of documentation, showcasing the digital transposition of practice, explored through craft, medium or action as form. The material is required to be submitted to Inspera.
  • written Reflection: A 1500-word text summarising activities to date and contextualising practice by exploring its essential characteristics. The text is required to be submitted to Inspera.
  • oral presentation providing an articulation and contextualisation of submitted artistic materials.

A postponed exam or re-examination will take place in the next exam period. In the case of a retake, the entire course must be repeated.

Admission to a programme of study is required:
Fine Art (BBK)

Required previous knowledge

Approved completion of BK1202 Artistic Experiment or similar at another accredited fine art study program.
