About the course

Course content

The course will focus on specific topics relevant for PhD candidates within roads, railways or transport.

Learning outcome

The student will achieve deep understanding on selected topics within road, railway and transport. The topics will be decided in cooperation with the student's main supervisor.

Learning methods and activities

Literature studies of selected scientific papers or book chapters.

Seminars and discussions on the topic.

Writing of a report/paper related to the topic.

The course will be available for PhD-candidates who write about topics related to road, rail or transport.

Further on evaluation

Oral exam could be replaced by evaluation of the written report/paper

Specific conditions

Admission to a programme of study is required:
Engineering (PHIV)

Required previous knowledge

The student has to be accepted at a relevant PhD program at NTNU. The course will be run if at least 3 students with relevant background wish to attend. If you wish to attend, please contact the course coordinator. Students not admitted to the PhD programme in engineering may be approved by the course coordinator. If so, once you have the course coordinator's written approval to sign up, forward it to the PhD coordinator, maren.grimstad@ntnu.no, and she will sign you up.
