Learning outcome

After completing the subject, you should be able to describe basic principles of building construction and building engineering physics. Furthermore, you must be able to draw visualize buildings digitally, and explain the functionality of the various building parts.

You should also be able to describe the main features of a construction process, which actors are involved as well as their tasks and responsibilities, and the external framework conditions that apply to the construction process.

This implies that you must have:

  • knowledge of the building's functions, external and internal stresses and common building materials
  • skills in software application for digitalization of buildings
  • overall understanding of moisture, heat transport and acoustics/noise in buildings
  • knowledge of the construction process and of legislation, standards and other conditions regulating a construction project
  • knowledge of the common challenges of the construction industry.

Learning methods and activities

Emphasis is placed on projects as a form of work where the students must design a preliminary project for a more precisely defined building project. The students are taught, guided and followed up on the campus.
