Knowledge: The candidate:

  • Knows the different design tools
  • Knows the different types of solar systems
  • Knows the various phases of designing solar cell systems
  • Knows the licensing process related to solar cell systems
  • Knows the market situation related to solar cell systems

Skills: The candidate should

  • Be able to choose appropriate design tools related to solar energy planning
  • Be able to carry out techno-economic assessments when designing different solar cell systems
  • Be able to simulate solar cell systems with regard to orientation, inclination, location, etc.
  • Be able to identify load profile
  • Be able to choose the correct size of necessary components
  • Able to read product data sheets and interpret
  • Be able to interpret simulation results

General competence: The candidate

  • Can use a basic relevant conceptual and formulaic apparatus within the design av solar PV systems
  • Have acquired an understanding of basic issues in the design of solar cell systems
  • Can convey central subject matter in the subject in writing and orally

Learning methods and activities

Project work: - Participation in project where design tools are used to solve various problems within solar energy. Lectures, guest lectures, project assignment. exercises, study visits. It is assumed that the student has a portable Windows PC
