Course content
The course provides knowledge of glacier mass balance, dynamics, hydrology and temperature conditions,and the interaction between glaciers and climate. The course discusses the glacial processes responsible for glacial landformes, and the development of glacial landscapes.
Learning outcome
Skills: The candidate will be able understand quaternary geology maps, and to carry out basic landform mapping and interpretation based on aerial photos.
Learning objectives:
The course aims to provide knowledge of glaciers, and how different types of glaciers have shaped the Norwegian landscape.
General competence: The candidate can work independently, critical and analytical with central questions, and can communicate knowledge on glaciers and glacial processes.
Learning methods and activities
18 hours lectures, 6 hours seminar.
