About the course
Course content
The course offers different perspectives on innovation and regional development, together with a discussion on how this influence actions and strategies of enterprises, regional authorities and national states. One of the central aspects is restructuring processes related to enterprises and settlements, for example in the development of new economies like "green" economy and experience- and cultural based economies. The course will stress the relationship between theory and practice, exemplified by relevant cases.
Learning outcome
Knowledge: The course gives the student deeper insight in the relationship between innovation and regional development. The central aim is to provide a comprehensive insight into the relations between theories of economic development, endogenous end exogenous development processes and regional policy implementation systems.
Skills: The students should be able to critically use theories and research results in the fields of entrepreneurship and innovation, and be able to formulate relevant research questions in relation to their own project.
General competence: The course gives the students deeper insight in the mutual relationships between innovation, local- and regional development, restructuring processes, urban- and rural development and regional- and innovation policy.
Learning methods and activities
16 hours lectures and 1 seminar. The seminar is compulsory. It is expected that compulsories and examinations must be completed in English. Exceptions must be clarified with the lecturer responsible for the course.

Previous knowledge related to entrepreneurship and innovation processes is recommended.
