Course content
Structure, qualities and function of carbohydrates, lipids, proteins, nucleic acids and metabolism of carbohydrates, lipids and amino acids, and replication, transcription and protein synthesis.
Learning outcome
Knowledge:
- Can explain structural formulae and basic functions in the cell associated with the biological macromolecular
- Can explain the metabolism and the regulation of the metabolism, and explain their purpose.
- Can explain the processes replication, transcription and translation
Skills:
- Apply biochemistry and cell biology on themes to explain biological processes.
Competence:
- Can communicate biochemistry against other subjects in the study
Learning methods and activities
Lectures and exercises. Mandatory assignments 3 out of 4 must be approved for admission to the final exam.
Expected total work load: 200 hours, of which planned lectures and exercises will make up ca 70 hours.

Mandatory assignments must be completed in order to take the exam. Approved mandatory assignments are valid for 4 semester.
Written digital exam (Inspera).
In case of an re-take of exam, the written exam may be changed to an oral examination.
