Course content

Cells and tissues, the integumentary system, the muscular and skeletal system, nervous system, blood and the cardiovascular system, the respiratory system, the urinary system, the digestive system, the endocrine system, the reproductive system and pregnancy, homeostasis, normal histology

Learning outcome

Upon passed exam the student should
- be able to explain the normal structure and functions of cells and
tissues, organs and organ systems
- be able to explain the microscopic look of cells and see this in the
context of their function in the body
- be able to recognize the normal microscopic morphology to the organ

Learning methods and activities

Lectures, labortory courses.
Total workload for each student will be 200 hours. There will be about 62 scheduled hours with lectures and laboratory courses.

  • Mandatory written submission

For applications for credits, approval and integration of courses from previous years or other institutions' equivalent education, each application will be evaluated individually. A reduction of credits (studiepoengsreduksjon) might apply if the candidate has passed exams in overlapping courses.

Specific conditions

Exam registration requires that class registration is approved in the same semester. Compulsory activities from previous semester may be approved by the department.

Admission to a programme of study is required:
Biomedical Laboratory Science (BBIOING)

Required previous knowledge

The course is restricted and reserved for students at the Bachelor of Biomedical Laboratory Sciences, Trondheim.
