Course content

Practice course is a mandatory introduction to SHE (safety, health and environment) and practical work at the mechanical workshop for all first year BEng student in Mechanical Engineering.

The course consists of educational online course in general SHE (appr.1 hour), lecture on rules and precautions at the Department's mechanical workshops and hands-on practice in joining and produksjon methods (each session is about 3-4 hours).

Learning outcome

Students will have basic knowledge in health, environment and safety with emphasis on good practices for practical work in workshops and laboratories

Further on evaluation

Portfolio assessment is the basis for the grade ("pass" - "not pass") in the course. All the parts of the assessement are compulsory in order to get "pass".

The portfolio assessment will be based on:

- SHE online course documented by course attest.

- Individual training at the workshop in chosen manufacturing and joining methods documented by submitted reports with given template after training.

It is a possibility to pre-aprove individual workshop training if the student has a documented vocational education in relevant technical skills.
