Flexible Hydropower in Integrated Energy Systems
New from the academic year 2026/2027
About
About the course
Course content
This course addresses the reservoir management problem, in which a hydropower system is to be operated efficiently. We take an optimization perspective on this problem, and emphasize both stand-alone operation and the joint operation of multiple reservoirs in a power systems context.
Learning outcome
Knowledge:
After completing the course, the student shall:
- have an insight in generation scheduling in mixed hydro-thermal systems.
- have knowledge about advanced methods for hydropower operations in market based power systems.
Skills:
After completing the course, the student shall be able to:
- formulate relevant optimization problems within the area.
General competence:
After completing the course, the student shall have acquired:
- knowledge about general principles and programs within the area.
- training in using operations research techniques and tools.
- understanding of power systems.
