Learning outcome
- The student shall be able to use user centered methods and methods for iterative prototyping to develop and present information architecture for web and mobile.
- The students shall be able to account for different principles and traditions to establish user centered information categories and sort them, and design access structures and navigational devices and search strategies.
- The student shall be able to analyse existing structures based on principles of information retrieval and be able to suggest new information architecures to aid information retrieval.
- The student shall be aware of up-to-date principles and patterns for information architecture on different platforms and know methods to design good user experiences in accordance with strategic goals.
Learning methods and activities
Lectures and exercises. Plus a group project, with weekly supervision (formative-iterative evaluation). Sketches, the work process, and the end result must be documented.
Further on evaluation
Summative assessment at the end of the project / semester: Pass / fail. The project / projects (which are passed) are temporarily included in a workbook and can subsequently be selected to be included in a final presentation folder (with ten practical design projects: from the workbook's twenty practical design projects) evaluated by internal and external sensors at the end of the study third and last year (grade scale A - F). See the curriculum for Bachelor of Graphic Design for further information on the final folder sensor. In case of non-passing, the course must be reconsidered on the next course of the course.
