Course content

A review of national and international research of the relationship between sports, physical activity and health. Based on public policy and research, the course will address and discuss the utility of sport as a public health policy tool. The course will focus on physical activity and health in both child and youth sports and elite sports.

Learning outcome

Knowledge: Students shall have good knowledge of national and international research, as well as public policy, concerning the relationship between sports, physical activity and health.

Skills: Students shall, by implementing relevant research and public policy, be able to discuss various social science issues concerning the relationship between sports, physical activity and health in a competent and independent manner.

Learning methods and activities

Lecture 2 hours per week and seminars 2 hours every third week.
Compulsory assignments: Attend seminar and 3 papers

Required previous knowledge

75 credits in Social Sciences and Sports Sciences or equivalent. The requirement must be fulfilled to be admitted to the course.
