About the course

Course content

The course will provide an introduction to the theory relating to physical education and sport, in the light of individual qualifications, group dynamics and interaction. Individual perspective will mainly focus on the individual situation, development, learning, physical fitness and physical skills. Interaction perspective will focus on social processes and relationship between the various actors in the play, physical activity, exercise and sports. The emphasis will be on creating an understanding of the importance of physical activity for the individual's quality of life, well-being and what grounds it gives for good health and a physically active lifestyle.. Physical education and sport are understood both as individual phenomenon and as a social phenomenon, in light of sociological theory.

Learning outcome

Knowledge - the student shall… * show theoretical, methodological and practical insights, as a basis for practical and theoretical work in physical education and sport. * understand physical educations challenges and content in a social science perspective. *show knowledge of child and adolescent physical, mental and social development.
Skills - Students will learn to implement goal-oriented teaching in physical education and sport, based on knowledge of children and young people's physical, mental and social development.

Learning methods and activities

6 hours lectures and group sessions each week. Certain weeks are reserved for writing the assignment/paper. Form om assesment: Written assignment/paper, in the form of a teaching plan with defined goals. The plan i assessed by collecting own data and process other available data. The course is restricted and reserved for students in 5-year lecturer program.
