About the course
Course content
Students will acquire knowledge in traditional and modern organisational theories and sport management. Advantages and disadvantages of different organizational structures are discussed in light of internal and external conditions. Values, goals, power, strategy and recourses are central concepts when analyzing organisations. Students will work with knowledge based on both experience and scientific investigation, and reflect on methodological consequences.
Learning outcome
Knowledge the student shall:
* through the presentation and review of key theories of central theories and approaches gain a basic understanding of sports organization and management.
Skills - the student shall demonstrate the ability to:
* use central theories and approaches to analyze actual issues in the area of sports organization and management.
Learning methods and activities
Throughout the semester there are 2 hours of lectures and 2 hours of group discussion per week. Students will take part in organisational work, and write a compulsory term paper on a chosen topic. Learning through practical activities is emphasized. Form of assessment: thesis
Whether or not the course will be taught spring semester 2015 depends on the departments teaching resourses. This will be decided autumn semester 2014.

IDRSA1003 or IDRSA1010 or equivalent or relevant work experience.
