Course content
This course is an introduction to computer graphics. The main themes are:
- Introduction to essential algorithms and data structures used in computer graphics.
- Use of software packages to create computer graphics.
- Applications of computer graphics from science and industry.
Concepts from computer graphics include:
- 3D modelling.
- The graphics pipeline.
- Projections.
- Ray Tracing.
- Texture Mapping.
- Shading.
All topics are taught from low-level to high-level: theory, implementation, application in software packages, and applications in science and industry.
Learning outcome
Knowledge:
- Be able to explain in detail central concepts, data structures and algorithms in computer graphics.
- Be familiar with important applications of computer graphics.
Skills:
- Be able to create 3D models and scenes, and apply a range of techniques from computer graphics, by using graphics software.
General competence:
- Be able to recognize and understand implementations of elementary algorithms and data structures from computer graphics.
- Be able to discuss which data structures and algorithms from computer graphics can best be used in specific situations.

Portfolio assessment. The portfolio consists of a predefined number (3-10) of theoretical and project assignments. The assessment is an overall evaluation of the portfolio.
