-has broad knowledge of service architectures
-has broad knowledge of issues related performance and scalability
-knows how to achieve high availability and security

Skills:The candidate
-can deploy and maintain databases and web applications
-can deploy and maintain mechanisms for high availability (load balancing and database replication)
-can do performance measurements of storage architectures, databases and web servers, and apply statistical analysis on the resulting data
-can apply caching in different layers of the application stack for improved performance
-can design and implement a system backup and restore

General competence:The candidate
-has insight into how to reuse existing designs and best practice patterns in system administration
-has insight into how to troubleshoot in service architectures
