Learning outcome
Knowledge:
The course will give the student knowledge about the trade-offs and compromises different aspects of ship design brings in the concept stage of the creation of a ship.
Skills:
The student will get an overall understanding on how the various design criteria for a vessel affects the overall ship design. He/she will in addition be able to do multi discipline high level analyses to document the feasibility of their own developed ship concept design.
General competence:
The student will be familiar with the ship concept design process and its terminology.
Learning methods and activities
Class room lectures, homework, assignments and team project work.
Further on evaluation
Both parts must be approved.Resit exam:For the resit exam, the candidate must submit a new project work if he/she failed with the project (40%). In either case a new oral exam is required (60%).Re-sit examination:Students are entitled to re-sit the written exam if they have legitimate reasons for absence, or have failed. The re-sit exam for the written exam is an oral exam. If students fail the assignment portfolio, they have to retake it during the next ordinary examination semester.
