Course content
The subject provides an advanced introduction to qualitative research methodology and design, emphasizing approaches common to humanistic and social science disciplines with an empirical orientation. The course aims to train participants in reflection on, and usage of, qualitative empirical research methods with particular emphasis on accounting for an empirical research plan and on analyzing empirical data. The following topics are covered:
Method as a research language and starting point for reflection
Constructivist thinking on methodology
Research design
Methods for collection of data, with particular focus on interviews and documents/text
Strategies of analysis, including analysis of text
Strategies of representation and writing
Students who would rather acquire 10 study points may choose KULT8861 where a larger term paper is required.
Teaching is offered on the condition that there is a sufficient amount of students and resources.
