About the course
Course content
The course provides insight into how to work digitally with archives and documentation management in a business to ensure broad document capture in a fully digital work environment. An introduction is given to how to contribute to both procurement processes and the development of new solutions, as well as how to safeguard information security and privacy.
The course provides basic insight into selected working methods, concepts and digital technologies, so that one can carry out documentation management in accordance with professional standards and legal requirements.
The course content has transferable value for work with digital documentation in varied institutions and businesses.
Learning outcome
Knowledge
The student
- has knowledge about standards for record management
- understands the basic principles of systems and how archive filing systems works
- has basic knowledge of information security and an understanding of how to collaborate crosswise to safeguard this
- knows the basic operation of the internet and local networks
- can explain how graphics and multimedia are processed by the computer
- understands basic HTML and CSS and how web applications work
- knows about the most important technology trends affecting archiving and record management
Skills
The student
- can contribute to developing and digitizing the routines and processes related to record management in a business
- can help to ensure that the information processing and record management in a business is efficient and responsible
- can read and understand how a HTML document is structured, and make simple editing of the code

Examination
Home examination, duration 6 hours.
School examination, duration 3 hours.
Compulsory activities/assignments
- 1 individual academic assignment or group assignment. This can be written or oral. The assignment is given after the start of the semester.
- 1 ICT exercise
Compulsory activities/assignments are assessed as approved/not approved, and must be approved in order for the student to take the exam.
Compulsory assignments must be approved in the term the course is taught. Compulsory assignments are valid for two years.
Compulsory activities and exams must be answered in Norwegian or another Scandinavian language.
The student must answer assignments and exams independently. Answers that do not demonstrate independence, regardless of whether there is a unclear understanding of academic sources, missing references to sources, or uncritical use of AI, will receive a mark deduction, depending on the extent. Students are allowed to use AI in preparation for assignments, but must familiarize themselves with how they can use this tool critically and independently, so that it contributes to learning in the subject.
