About

About the course

Course content

The Master Thesis in mathematics is done in mathematics or statistics. As a rule the work on the thesis is divided between two terms, namely the third and fourth terms of the Master program. Students should plan the choice of courses at the beginning of the study. The selected courses should be relevant for the field of specialisation and at the same time meet the breadth requirements.

Learning outcome

Work on the Thesis is the core of the master program. The Master Thesis should be an independent scientific work (that could be a kind of survey) where the student shows understanding of the current research and/or relevant theories and methods that are important with respect to the topic of the Thesis.

Learning methods and activities

Study of current scientific articles and books under the supervision of a faculty member. Results obtained when working on the Thesis could be also presented in a seminar.

Required previous knowledge

The work on the Master Thesis assumes that courses taken during the first and the second terms of the Master program should be relevant in the topic of the Thesis.
