Course content
Students are going to learn about the strength capacity calculation of the different machine components.
- Strength calculation
- Welded connections
- Screw connections
- Cut-off connections
- Shafts
- Pressure and shrink connections
- Couplings
- Gears and gearboxes
- Belt drive and brakes
- Springs
- Light metals
Learning outcome
Knowledge The student should:
- have broad knowledge of key issues in the calculation of construction details.
- have knowledge on how to update their knowledge in the field.
Skills The student should:
- be able to apply scientific knowledge to practical and theoretical problems and justify the choices made.
- be able to reflect on the calculation results and adjust them under supervision.
- be able to locate, assess and refer to information and subject matter that can be used in the problem.
General knowledge The student should:
- carry out various assignments in the subject as a participant in a group activity.

- Compulsory assignment:
- Up to 3 major assignments must be delivered according to plan and approved in order to take the final exam.
For online students:
The course will mainly be carried out as an online study program. An online course means that all communication between the supervisor and students is organized through a digital learning platform.

Further on evaluation
- Re-sit of written exam in August.
- Assignments that are not approved must be re-taken at the next regular completion.
- Aids: C / Specified printed and handwritten aids allowed. Definite, simple calculator allowed. (Attached Formula Sheet). The formula sheet will be attached where not enough data appears to have been entered, separate data is selected, but note carefully which data has been selected. The formula sheets are general and contain more formulas than are necessary to solve the problems.
