About the course
Course content
The course comprises advanced topics within field of expertise Artificial intelligence and it’s application in the building technology. Different application areas such as Structural design, Building automation, Construction process, Energy consumption, Planning of maintenance, retrofitting and circularity will be discussed in the course.
Learning outcome
The candidate:
will gain a deep understanding of applying Artificial Intelligence (AI) to support building technology, focusing on selected topics related to the course projects.
will be able to apply their programming skills and select appropriate methods for simulations, analysis or optimization in areas of the selected topic for the course project such as structural design, building automation, construction processes, energy consumption, and maintenance planning.
will learn to read and analyze relevant scientific articles, enabling them to stay informed about the latest developments in the field.
will be able to use existing tools to present the results of their analysis efforts, utilizing different methods to achieve project goals.
Learning methods and activities
The course can be given as a guided self-study if less than 6 students are registered.
The course will be given through seminars which require active participation. In addition, there is supervised self-study, where the students works with a project assignment.
Planned teaching is a combination of online teaching, group discussions, self-study, supervision and guest lectures from relevant actors in the field.

The grades are set based on delivered project report. If failed, new report has to be delivered according to agreement with course coordinator.
Mandatory attendance for up to 6 days.
To have access to the exam, three mandatory assignments shall be approved.
Continuation exam in spring semester.
