About the course
Course content
The specialization project comprises a workload of 15 ECTS credits. NTNU announces project assignments relevant for the students. It is emphasized that the student shall learn to work systematically within the chosen topic, and also to learn how to gain detailed knowledge through literature studies and practical work. The work assignment will be within the area of nanotechnology for medicine.
Learning outcome
The student should make an in-depth study of a specific topic within the area of applied nano technology for medicine, based on scientific working methods.
Knowledge:
- The student shall have knowledge on using and adapting existing methods, mainly within selected course module, for problem solving within the disciplines of the department.
- Moreover, s/he shall know how to organize, limit (scope), plan, do and act within a project.
- The candidate shall also know how systematic technical problem solving and research shall be reported to provide required integrity and value.
Technical skills:
- The student shall master the interplay between theory and medical practice, method selection, problem solution, and reporting.
- The candidate shall be able to perform technical work of limited scope within existing framework, generating results that supports conclusions in relation to the main objectives of the work.
- S/he shall master writing of technical reports and communication, technically as well as on a more general basis.
General competence:
- The student shall on general basis be able to apply captured knowledge, competence and skills to carry through tasks that are less structured and more similar to the needs and tasks that s/he will face in the practical (working) life after graduation.
Learning methods and activities
Independent project work with academic supervision. In connection with the submission of the project report, there will be a seminar where the students give a compulsory oral presentation of their project work.
Compulsory assignments
- Oral presentation of project
Further on evaluation
Information about writing and submitting your project can be found on NTNU's website under your department. If the project is performed as group work, the students and supervisor shall make an agreement (preferably at start-up) about individual or joint assessment of the final project report. The project has to be submitted in NTNU's examination system Inspera Assessment. For a re-take of an examination, all assessments during the course must be re-taken.
