About the course

Course content

Individual lectures and independent work on the secondary instrument.

The course can be included as an elective in the bachelor's degree in performance music - classical or Masters in Music Performance. The department assigns elective courses to students based on their prioritized preferences, as well as academic and resource considerations.

Lessons that are intended to enable the student to achieve the learning objectives in the course are offered no more than once.

Learning outcome

Skills:

The candidate:

  • has basic technical and interpretation skills on an instrument different from the main instrument
  • has studied relevant repertoire, and has experience with concert activity on the secondary instrument

Knowledge:

The candidate:

  • has basic knowledge of the repertoire of the instrument.

Learning methods and activities

Individual instruction on the secondary instrument, regularly throughout the academic year. Participation in concert forum.

The instruction is mandatory and requires a minimum of 80% satisfactory participation.

Compulsory assignments

  • Satisfactory participation in compulsory instruction
  • Participation at 1 concert
  • Studied repertoire minimum 60 minutes

Further on evaluation

The studied repertoire (60 minutes) includes the program for the examination concert and must be delivered medio April. The student must participate in at least one concert in addition to the exam. Practical exam: 20 minutes effective playing.

Music Performance (MMUSP)
Music Performance Studies (BMUSP)

Required previous knowledge

Requires admission to the Bachelor in Music Performance or the Master of Arts in Music Performance. Students with well-developed skills in an instrument other than their principal instrument may elect to take this course. A qualifying audition might be required.
