About the course

Course content

The course is based on work with composition as a performer - composer in ensemble. Instruction and tutoring will be related to the individual work and focus on relevant techniques and methods for composing and arranging musical material designed for a specific ensemble where the composer is also a performer.

The course can be included as an elective in the Master in Music Performance degree. The department assigns elective courses to students based on their prioritized preferences, as well as academic and resource considerations.

Instruction is obligatory and demands minimum 80% attendance.

Exam includes composing and documenting ensemble work with total duration of 20-30 minutes. The portfolio shall contain 20-30 min of compositions in total, documented in recorded and/or score form. The number of works will vary, depending on the compositions/arrangements.
