About the course
Course content
The course is based on work with composition as a performer - composer in ensemble. Instruction and tutoring will be related to the individual work and focus on relevant techniques and methods for composing and arranging musical material designed for a specific ensemble where the composer is also a performer.

- The candidate has knowledge of various techniques for composing and arranging music for a specific, working ensemble where the candidate also is a performer.
- The candidate can analyze, evaluate and develop further own compositional work and others

- The candidate can communicate and convey musical material and ideas in the ensemble situation.

The course is based on group discussions and will need a minimum of 3 students to run.

- Satisfactory participation in compulsory instruction
Further on evaluation
Instruction is obligatory and demands minimum 80% attendance.
Exam includes composing and documenting ensemble work with total duration of 20-30 minutes. The portfolio shall contain 20-30 min of compositions in total, documented in recorded and/or score form. The number of works will vary, depending on the the compositions/arrangements.

The student should have some experience as composer in ensemble.
