About the course

Course content

The course gives a broad and update introduction to change management. The academic content is based on the understanding of change management as a complex contextual and processual phenomenon. The apporach is based on a learning theory perspective.

Learning outcome

Knowledge: The student

  • has overview of and insight into theories on organizational change and organizational change processes
  • has overview on major theories on leading change processes

Skills: The student is able to

  • work independently on theoretical and practical change management issues
  • research issues on leading and accomplishing organizational change processes
  • apply theoretical insight when dealing with specific organizational change processes

General competence: The student is able to

  • provide reflective and independent contributions during change processes
  • approach change management literature in a critical, reflective way
  • communicate on change management issues to managers and workers in organizations
  • develop knowledge on change management from theory and practical experience

Learning methods and activities

Lectures, group work, assignments and plenary discussions.

Compulsory assignment. Compulsory activities from previous semester may be approved by the department.

Further on evaluation

In the case of a re-sit exam and the final exam after the course has been discontinued, the form of assessment may be changed to an oral exam.
