Course content

It starts with the construction of the well and its barriers; the open hole, casing, cement and the preventers; and the completed well, the tubing and the wellhead: The pressure boundary conditions of a well. Leak detection / handling during drilling (kick / killing) and during production (sustained casing pressure). With this background, we present independent, technical barriers with associated well integrity schematics. Risk assessment and associated management systems finalize the course.

Learning outcome

After course completion the participants are able to:
- Evaluate plans related to safe handling and mitigating of oil and gas wells from planning of the drilling operation to plug & abandonment.
- Ask critical questions related to the strategy and to the aims of the complete and parts of the operation.
- Suggest projects or investigations that may clarify critical issues revealed during the evaluation.
