Learning outcome

Knowledge:

The student

has basic insight into concepts and methods of attack related to the analysis and assessment of safety and reliability of industrial equipment, systems used in transport solutions and critical infrastructure.Skills:

The student

  • can identify and assess faults in both individual components and in complex systems
  • can assess which parts of a system are particularly important for preventing system errorscan use different methods to calculate the reliability of individual components and complex systems
  • can assess the advantages and disadvantages associated with the individual methods.General competence:

The student

  • understands safety and reliability in relation to applications within operational reliability, quality, risk, environmental protection and sustainable development
  • can reflect on the relationship between costs/disadvantages and benefit associated with various security measures.

Learning methods and activities

The subject is carried out in two sessions, three + two days of lectures, group work and discussions. Great emphasis is placed on discussions and the transfer of experience between the participants. Between the two collections there are self-studies with reading syllabus, assignments and guidance via the internet.

The course is part of NTNU's further education offer, and has a course fee. See NTNU Videres hjemmesider.

Compulsory assignments
