Course content
This course engages the student in learning and applying essential distinctions relevant to the experience of helping within organisational settings. The identification of more specialized knowledge and expertise suitable for coaching and leadership will enable the student to successfully meet relevant demands of the workforce. Central to this course is the process of developing capacities for our growth as human beings and our ability to help facilitate this growth in others.
Course pedagogy will include readings, classroom dialogue and lecture to enhance self-awareness as a tool for learning and developing advanced skills. The course will also apply this learning through practice and facilitate knowledge integration through reflection.

- can apply relevant counseling skills in a coaching perspective in order to create a good coaching relationship and help coachees in their process of revealing important topics, focusing on development opportunities and goal-oriented activities.

Learning methods and activities
Lectures 6 days (each 7 hours), plus 1 day class project presentation.
Compulsory assignments during the semester:
- Videotaping a client coaching session, reviewing and editing this video, and presenting it and learnings from the project in class.
- 4 out of 5 pre-class reading refletions
- An annotated bibliography and contributing feedback in a peer review process on the other bibliographies
- A short essay on the students practical coaching experience
These must be completed in order to hand in the portfolio for assessment. Both the bibliography and the short essay will become part of the exam when handed in in the end of the semester. Other compulsory activity: Participation in the teaching program (80%).

Further on evaluation
Form of assessment: Portfolio. Students will prepare a portfolio with two assignments; an annotated bibliography (30%) and a final essay (70%) of 10-12 pages (A4, line spacing 1.5, Times New Roman 12 points) of which the students description of their practical coaching experience will be part of.
When re-sitting the exam, the whole portfolio must be submitted again.

Required previous knowledge
As for admission to the master's programme in counselling, master's programme in adult learning, master's programme in education or master's programme in psychology, or similar.
