Course content
Both individual experiences and the wider society can be understood as consisting of a number of interconnected social processes. Based on a detailed understanding of social interaction, we analyze the evolution of various phenomena, such as cafes, communities and public spaces, festivals and other cultural events, volunteerism, activism and rioting, and social media. The course emphasizes active and creative participation of students and can also address other current phenomena.
Learning outcome
Knowledge: The student should have gained insight into how the phenomena of daily life in different ways can be understood as social processes and how these processes form the basis for community formation.
Skills: Students will understand and analyze the events and situations in everyday life and in the "larger" society by use of the perspectives presented in the course.
Learning methods and activities
2 hours of lectures every week throughout the semester according to the lecture plan. Seminars 2 hours per week throughout the semester. The compulsory activity can only be completed in the fall semester. Number and requirements will be given at the start of the semester.

Further on evaluation
Form of assessment: Home examination (in the form of a blog) which the students work on throughout the semester. The students will work in groups of 3-4 students.
Specific conditions
Exam registration requires that class registration is approved in the same semester. Compulsory activities from previous semester may be approved by the department.

Completed basic courses in the social sciences, humanities or technology.
