About the course
Course content
The course includes the building process in light of the digital shift, and in light of sustainability. The course focus on basic understanding of a construction process, and understanding of the importance of different perspectives and different roles. The course will give the students insights in planning and control of construction projects, including project models, project delivery models, how to organize a project and the cooperation and information flow, how to exploit an integrated model both for planning and execution. Design of a project model and choice of project delivery model and organization model are important aspects of the course. In addition, financial topics such as budget setting and project costing are included, and so is progress planning.
Learning outcome
Knowledge on: The aim of the course is to provide knowledge of how a building process develops over the life cycle of a project, the structure of a digital and sustainable construction process, including knowledge of project models and their application, organization models, tools and responsibility in the process including the importance of safety in the building process.
Skills: The candidate can:
- plan a construction project, with emphasis on cost, time and scope
- organize a building project, and use tools like HES-indicators.
- choose a well suited project delivery model
- be able to set up a budget and to make a cost estimate for a project as a basis for a tender
- use indicators for safety in construction
General competence: The candidate can understand how a building process develops from requirements to an actual building and understand the terms used in the building process.

The grade for the course is based on the results from a digital school exam (55 %) and a project assignment (45 %) done in groups.
Approved individual assignments are a requirement for attending the exam. There are four individual assignments, all four must be passed to get access to the exam.
If there is a re-sit examination in May/June or August, the examination form may be changed from written to oral. Students who register for a re-sit exam in May/June can not register for a re-sit exam in August.
