Course content
Technical evaluation of building design alternatives, planning process, integrated design, architecture, design criteria, project analysis, selection of building technique, building detailing and selection of materials will be taught with respect to: practical building physics, building technology, fire safety, technical instalations and adaptability, indoor climate, life-cycle-assessment, environmental classification, optimization of building envelope parameters, future low energy concepts, energy accounting, energy flexibility, etc.
Legislation: Understanding of technical and administrative requirements within the field.
Digital string: Digital skills in using DAK software, digital skills in using presentation tools, digital teamwork skills, digital source evaluation skills.
Learning outcome
Knowledge: The candidate should have knowledge of skills needed for practical design of large and complex buildings. This will result in ability to organize and participate in team work where different professional contributions are made, such as structural design, building physics design, environmental design and fire safety design.
Skills: The candidate is able to contribute in practical design of buildings.
General competence: The candidate can, in collaboration with architects and engineers, contribute to design of buildings on the basis of improved knowledge of the society's needs and requirements to buildings in general.
Learning methods and activities
The activities of this course are based on project works combined with exercises. The subject is taught through traditional lectures as well as through project based learning in teams.

Further on evaluation
Course assessment consists of final written digital exam under supervision (weighted 60%) and project works (weighted 40%). The results for each part is given a letter grade, and the final grade is calculated according to the given weighting. If there is a re-sit examination, the examination form may be changed from written to oral. All parts of the assessment must be passed in order to get a passing grade for the whole course. Re-sit exam in May/June and August, students can only attend one of the re-sit exams.
