Examination arrangement
Course content
The course builds on the course Norwegian Sign Language 1, and aims to further develop students' knowledge about and skills in using Norwegian Sign Language. The language training aims to develop basic signing skills. The didactic parts of the course are based in the curricula and competency aims used in schools. Different perspectives in teaching deaf and hard of hearing pupils will be treated theoretically and as a part of how the course is taught. Developing basic Norwegian Sign Language skills are central in the course, as is the relationship between the linguistic competence in pupils, access to a language environment and the teacher's signing skills
Learning outcome
Having completed the course, a student is expected to have the following knowledge, skills and general competencies: have knowledge about curricula for deaf and hard of hearing people, have knowledge about basic skills in Norwegian Sign Language and challenges when teaching about and in Norwegian Sign Language in school - have knowledge about the status of Norwegian Sign Language in society - knows different ways to work with Norwegian Sign Language in schools Skills: Candidates - can communicate in Norwegian Sign Language about a number of themes, can use different strategies for communication also when their own skills are not enough. Candidates - can develop their own Norwegian Sign Language skills and knowledge, based on knowledge and strategies acquired in the course - can relate practical and theoretical knowledge to their own work situation - can convey their own knowledge about Norwegian Sign Language to others.
Learning methods and activities
During on campus meetings there will be a mixture of lectures, group work with practical and theoretical assignments, presentations before the whole group and video analysis.

Further on evaluation
Obligatory assignments are graded pass/fail. Final gradeas are A-F. Written term assignment. Individual practical exam in Norwegian Sign Language.

Admission to a programme of study is required:
Norwegian sign language, distance learning, bachelor's level (FJTEGN)
Required previous knowledge
To be accepted into the course you have to have 30 ECTS in Norwegian Sign Language 1 or the equivalent
