Course content
Optical waveguides, integrated optics, and optical fibers. Electro-optics, nonlinear optics and acusto-optics. Scattering. Waveguide components, optical modulators and switches. Photodetectors. Applications in optical communication, fiberoptic sensors, and optical metrology.
Learning outcome
The course shall give an introduction to practical components and systems based on electro-optic and related effects.
Learning methods and activities
Lectures, tutorials and laboratory exercises. If there is a re-sit examination, the examination form may be changed from written to oral. The course may be held in English.
