Course content
The course includes topics like: Innovation in organizations, innovation culture, innovation ecosystems, strategy and innovation, organizational learning and innovation, innovation and design, and how communication- and decision-making-processes influence innovative processes in organizations, new organizational forms, information management, and open business models.

The course is an elective in the 4th year for the study program MTIØT, and has the following learning goals:
The course conveys the following knowledge:
- Innovation processes, innovation management, and innovation strategy in organizations.
- General knowledge about structures and processes in organizations.
- Specific knowledge of models and conditions pertaining to innovation processes in organizations, e.g.:
- Models of Innovation
- Radical Innovation
- Incremental Innovation
- Disruptive Innovation
- Process Innovation
- Business Model Innovation
- Innovation Culture
- Innovation Management.
The course enables students to:
- Analyze organizations in order to improve and boost innovation.
- Be informed and preferred contributors to innovation processes in any type of organization.
Other important learning goals:
- The students will, through analysis and discussion of various cases, acquire practice in analyzing organizations, and learn how to argue, in group and plenary session, all innovation related aspects of the cases.
- The students will, through exercises, learn how to analyze challenges and formulate structured, substantiated arguments both orally and in writing.
Learning methods and activities
The course uses both lectures and compulsory exercises. Some parts of the lectures may be done in the form of seminars. Grades are based 100% on the sum from several small exercises. The course is run in English. The teaching is in part case-based and therefore requires participation and engagement from the students. Successful completion of the course requires English skills equivalent to a TOEFL score of 630 or better.

Required previous knowledge
This course assumes a basic knowledge of organization theory and organizational behavior. The course is limited to 25 students. Deadline for applications is June 1st for Norwegian students, and August 10th for international students. 10 spaces will be reserved for international students until the second deadline has passed. International applicants should register on studweb as normal, and wil have their qualifications checked by IØT. If more than 10 students are qualified, their length of study will be taken into account.
